DNEYE SCANNER® BY RODENSTOCK

Orthokeratology: Services

Eyecare Plus Mermaid Beach Optometrists specialises in creating Rodenstock Biometric Intelligent Glasses on the Gold Coast. These innovative custom lenses that are manufactured based on the individual biometry of your eyes, which is measured using the DNEye Scanner®. These lenses marked the beginning of the biometric era at Eyecare Plus Mermaid Beach and the DNEye Scanner® has become part of our philosophy. These lenses support focus vision and peripheral vision by measuring human eye movements. Discover the full potential of your vision and experience the new era of precision vision at Eyecare Plus Mermaid Beach.

What are Biometric Intelligent Glasses?
Today, most lenses are manufactured using a standard vision test with just four standard prescription values as input for the lens calculation process. In this case standard values taken from the reduced eye model are used for the biometrics of the individual eye. These standard values suit only 2% of eyes. This has consequences for how precisely the lens can be tailored to the needs of the user’s eyes.
At Eyecare Plus Mermaid Beach, we recognise that each eye has a different shape and size.
We use a new technology, the DNEye® Scanner to measure the length of your eyes, your pupil size, corneal aberrations and several thousand data points over your eye. Based on these eye measurements and the DNEye® analysis, the biometry of the entire eye is determined for the calculation of the lens. This biometric data is incorporated directly into the lens production process, which is unique in the industry.
The result: the most precise lenses in the world, with the sharpest vision for every angle and every gaze.
We call these lenses Biometric Intelligent Glasses.
We are not satisfied with the standard, but always go one step further. Our aim is to offer the best lenses for people living in the Gold Coast.

What does the DNEye® Scanner measure?
At Eyecare Plus Mermaid Beach, we determine the biometrics of your whole eye. This includes its length and several thousand data points across the eye – far beyond industry standards. With the help of these data sets an exact eye model is generated for each individual eye. All relevant biometric data flows directly into the lens production process - on this basis, we can calculate a lens that fits each individual person as perfectly as possible. This has made us the lens experts we are today. This allows us to determine the center of sharp vision for each individual eye. And spectacle wearers benefit from the sharpest vision for every angle and every gaze, no matter where they look.

What is the benefit of Biometric Intelligent Glasses?
With Biometric Intelligent Glasses from Rodenstock, the full dynamics of daily life can be experienced again. These lenses based on DNEye® technology enable an unrestricted, dynamic and natural visual experience, in harmony with the brain.
A Swiss survey of 283 customers, 90% of whom already wore glasses, shows the enormous success of Biometric Intelligent Glasses.

  • 92% experienced sharper vision than before

  • 87% experienced reduced adaptation time

  • 84% experienced better contrast

  • 80% experienced better vision at dusk

It demonstrated that the use of an exact biometric eye model to produce customised lenses contributes significantly to improving the visual experience by providing:

  • Sharpest distance and near vision possible.

  • Improved night vision, keeping you safe on the roads when out after dark.

  • The largest field of vision which makes you view through your glasses more naturally.

  • Improved visual comfort.

What makes Biometric Intelligent Glasses different?
Our vision consists of two subsystems that simultaneously work together with the brain: focus vision and peripheral vision. We use our peripheral vision to orientate ourselves and detect motion in our environment, while our focus vision moves to whatever point of interest the brain picks up on, no matter if it is near or far away. Based on this input, your brain then decides how to act on the information received. By crafting the lenses with biometric data, we ensure that both the focus and peripheral vision subsystems are supported by seamless transitions in the lenses.
Eye movement is continuous. In fact, the human eye moves up to 250,000 times a day. This means our vision is constantly in a dynamic state, focusing at near, mid and far distances while we use our peripheral vision to orientate ourselves as the eye moves. This is why it’s so important that progressive lenses support vision at every angle – and not just at one focus point in the middle. But, in order for them to do that, you need precise data on the individual eye – because every eye is different.
